And they say there's no hope for our young people...

Argh: so much to blog and so little time. I'm sure none of you out there have that problem...

My 22 year old brother just called to apologize for seeming short when I called him yesterday to ask him an important question. The facts:

1) The important question: "So I'm in Marshall Homegoods, and I'm trying to decide between the fig and cocoa spread from Croatia or the walnut preserves from Armenia. What do you think?"
2) He may have rolled his eyes or thought, "Are you kidding me..." but he didn't let on and instead gave me his opinion: fig and cocoa spread.
3) He is a senior in college (I swear he was 4 years old yesterday...where has the time gone!?!) and has an avalanche of papers and projects due. I knew this and only expected to be on the phone for about 30 seconds.

My thoughts on this situation after his call today:

1) Could you ask for a sweeter 22 year old, male or female?
2) His future wife will no doubt greatly benefit from this level of thoughtfulness.
3) I love this guy!

I assured him that he was so sweet to apologize, but that I knew he had a lot to do and I hadn't thought twice about his hopping off the phone after solving my crisis situation.

What a great kid. I have a lump in my throat right this very minute.

Aww, you have such a sweet bro! I can't believe he's 22 either!

Also, love the b&w pic. For a second there I thought, is that Walt?? But then I quickly realized Walt wasn't alive in 1947 (or whenever the pic was taken). :)

Hi Kimberly,
The picture you used today is of me and my little brother, Gregg. It's always been one of my favorite pictures of the two of us. My brother passed away in 2004 at the young age of 58, but he will always be my little brother!

I'm flattered that you chose that picture to go with your story about your brother - he sounds like such a great guy, by the way.

Best regards,
Sandy

Yes, Jenn, Walt has aged extremely well, hasn't he :D Thanks for the comment!

Sandy, what a great picture! I'm so glad you stopped by! What a dear reminder of your brother. He was blessed to be loved by you while he was here. Thank you so much for dropping in.

Goldsworthy, your brother is missing out on his lovely sister and her charming family. I also pray he will find his way back someday. You should interview your dad about Croatia and post some stories on your site! I love hearing about other countries! A newlywed friend of mine spent part of her honeymoon in Croatia a couple weeks ago. I'm so glad to hear the fabric came in handy, and I can't wait to see the resulting birdie!
